Welcome to the June 2008 Edition of New Springtime
Welcome back to New Springtime! In this edition, we bring you five articles written by students and young adults. One of the articles, from Thomas Kwok, is a response to a letter from a reader that we received and published earlier this year. We encourage you to contact us if you have any comments to make about our publication and individual articles. They can stimulate greater discussion of an issue that interests you. Two of the articles concern the theology of Pope Benedict XVI. One, from Zac Vermeer, is a review of Tracey Rowland’s new book, Ratzinger’s Faith. Since Dr Rowland is the Patron of ACSA it is a special pleasure to have a contribution from a student explaining the value of her most recent publication. The second, from David Collits, is an excellent review of Pope Benedict’s most recent encyclical Spe Salvi. Michael Gleeson gives a detailed review of the writings of Cardinal Newman and Frank Sheed on education, and considers how they apply to the Catholic student. Finally, we bring you a characteristically delightful piece from Tara Peters about World Youth Day. Our next edition will be our World Youth Day edition, which we hope will be the greatest edition in New Springtime’s short, colourful life. |
